MEET CHESHIRE!! **Please Note: This is a courtesy post for another rescue; different adoption fees/policy apply.

Cheshire is a 6 year old mix, who once comfortable, is the most loving, sweet, goofy, fun dog. He had no issues as a puppy, but when he was about 2 years old he decided that he wasn't a fan of other dogs and became a little fearful of people he didn't know. That's okay though because this boy has so much love to give that you'll want to give all your love to him and him alone!

Cheshire was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when he was 4, and it was explained that his changes in behavior likely resulted from this. The medication he needs is pretty inexpensive and an easy condition to treat.

He loves to hike, but is not a fan of the car. He loves to fetch, but it can be shortlived as he gets a little distracted. Haha He is a huge cuddlebug, and always wants to be as close to you as possible (he doesn't understand personal space). Cheshire is completely house-trained, and knows commands like sit, down, stay, wait, and come, although his recall could use some work because he gets distracted. He's crate-trained, although sometimes he does struggle with separation anxiety when he is not with his favorite person.

Meeting new people is scary, and generally takes more than one visit before he's comfortable enough to let people love him as much as he really wants to love them, but given some time he does come around. Because he is scared of new people, he can come across unfriendly and will take another meeting to get used to you. But once he trusts you, however, he will trust you forever. He has never bitten anyone or anything like that-- he is just scared and needs a patient hand to guide him and make him feel safe. He's definitely a lover when you offer him patience and allow him to move at his own pace.

Cheshire is a handsome and sweet boy who just needs someone dedicated to making him feel secure. An experienced owner who knows how to lead would be a great fit and he would look up to you and bond nicely before long. Cheshire has a great heart and would be such an amazing companion with the right person. If that's you, please inquire because this one is a hidden gem!
